Theodosius I, 379-395. Solidus (Gold, 20 mm, 4.48 g, 7 h), uncertain mint in Northern Italy, 380-382. D N THEODO-SIVS P F AVG Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Theodosius I to right. Rev. VICTOR-IA AVGG / COM Theodosius I and Gratian, crowned and nimbate, seated facing on double-throne, holding a globe together; behind, Victory standing facing with wings spread; below, small palm branch. Depeyrot 1/3. RIC 5f ('Mediolanum'). A lovely, sharp piece with a fine portrait. Good extremely fine.
